Water Damaged Countertop Seam

There are several ways to repair a water damaged area on a plastic laminate countertop where liquids have seeped through the seam and caused the particle board to swell underneath. The methods used to repair the raised spots are going to vary depending upon the style of counter top that you have. All laminate counters are not manufactured the same way; so there are various solutions to this problem. Swollen Cabinet Door

Do you have a swollen area on a cabinet door? Plastic laminate is the easiest type to repair. Fixing a thermofoil cupboard front that is swelling on the backside is possible. Wood door parts that have swelled can be repaired too. Some Formica kitchen manufactures may want to build a new one entirely depending upon how much damage has been done. How To Fix Warped Cabinet Doors

In the kitchen cabinet manufacturing industry craftsman don’t always produce quality workmanship. Learning how to repair (or, “fix”) warped cabinet doors is one of the areas that I had to become familiar with, when I began to learn about manufacturing kitchens, bathrooms, and Laundry rooms. Obviously there is no one method that can be applied to every situation. In the next few paragraphs I will attempt to educate you as to why these doors get curves in them and how to get the curve out of a cabinet door. How To Fix a Broken (or, “Damaged”) Cabinet Drawer

There is not really a particular method teaching how to fix a broken cabinet drawer other than troubleshooting possible ways to repair the broken cabinetry part that is not working properly. It has been my experience that many broken slide out mechanisms can be repaired unless they have been severely damaged. In such a case the only solution may be to have a new one fabricated rather than repairing the damaged part.

How To Repair Water Damaged Cabinet Sides

Cabinet ends swelling, due to water absorption, are something that I have seen in bathrooms more than kitchens. Never the less, the process of how to repair damaged cabinet sides, as a result of flooding water, is still the same. There are several approaches that can be taken but, I want to teach you the simplest one that I have discovered. You won’t need to remove the end of the structure at all. If the damage is comparable to the photo to the left, you may want to just sand & chisel down the swollen area and laminate it with a piece of Formica or thicker finished board. Read more…
