How To Fix A Gouge In A Formica Plastic Laminate Countertop

Video Transcription:
Hey everyone. This is Dustin Kampel with Kampel Enterprises Incorporated. We’re here today to show you how to fix nicks, gouges and deep scratches on your countertop.

Now, we accidentally gouged the countertop. To fix your scratch today, you’re going to need a couple of things and they are a tube of SeamFill that is color matched to your countertop, SF 99 Solvent Cleaner, a Kampel polish putty knife, a screw driver to open up the can of solvent, a little scrap piece of cardboard in order to mix the SeamFil on and a roll of paper towels for clean up.

The first step to fix your damaged area is to take a Kampel SF 99 and apply a small amount to the paper towel and thoroughly clean the damaged area and the surrounding countertop. Allow the solvent to dry and once it’s thoroughly dry, you’re going to need to open up your tube of SeamFil. To do that, remove the cap and on the end, you can see a little punctured tip that is designed to puncture the aluminum cap that protects the suit.

Take a small amount of SeamFil and place it on your piece of cardboard. Use the putty knife to smooth the SeamFil giving it time to thicken. Once thickened to your desired amount, take a small amount of SeamFil on the tip of your putty knife and press it into the gouge. You can then remove the excess of SeamFil by scraping it away. Allow this to cure for about five minutes.

The final step is your going to take your solvent and put a small amount on your clean paper towel. Gently and carefully clean your previously damaged area and allow the solvent to dry.

And there you have it. Your gouge is repaired.

Thanks everybody for joining us today with how to fix your damaged countertop. You can buy all these fantastic products st Kampel Online Retailer, www.SeamFil.com. Thank you.
